When Jitka falls ill with a severe autoimmune disease, she deals with it unorthodoxly. Instead of doctors, she listens to the voice of her heart, which urges her to end her long-term relationship, leave home, and go alone to Latin America to heal herself with the help of local ancient medicine. Her story is about two journeys. An adventurous journey that takes her through the Amazon rainforest, Andean mountains, desert, and coasts throughout the Latin American continent. And then there is another, no less adventurous journey into her heart and beyond the boundaries of ordinary consciousness, through which she will be carried by the psychedelic herbal medicine of ayahuasca, San Pedro, Mexican mushrooms, as well as tobacco and cocoa.

“I see the benefits of psychedelic plants in allowing us to experience our potential of total health and our gifts. However, everyone has to pave the way to these potentials on their own.”

This unusual but engaging travelogue tells of trust, determination, and the effort to understand illness and oneself. On her journey, the author realized that everything is about communication, which leads to connection and love. It wasn’t until the end of the journey that she understood that illness was also a form of communication of the body that required attention.
The audiobook, narrated by the actress Jana Plodková with the addition of authentic sacred songs of Peruvian shamans, is available at audiotéka or audiolibrix.

“This book heals and after reading it, you will be left with a gentle smile on your face. I recommend it.”

“I searched for a long time and found it. For me, an amazing book about finding a way to self-knowledge. I have read many books on this topic, but this book appealed to me the most.”

The Journey of a Power(less) Londoner is an authentic description of an individual journey, which aptly bears the subtitle “The Alchemy of Metamorphosis.” As a future butterfly, the author undergoes a psychospiritual transformation – from a caterpillar to a dark night in a cocoon to a flight in the free world. At the same time, she guides us on her journey from her native Moravia to Great Britain, where she becomes a respected London guide, through shamanic ceremonies in Latin America (in which she tries to heal from traumas and autoimmune diseases) and then back to the Czech Republic.

The author’s personal confession is pure, raw, and courageous. Don’t expect dancing in flowing dresses in the full moon’s light, taking place on a weekend with esoteric tastings. Here we go to the core – cleansing tobacco and ayahuasca rituals, accompanied by hours of vomiting in an altered state of consciousness, are a confrontation with herself, death, and a plant ally.

The book is enriched by pictures of selected corners of London and Great Britain, with a clear connection to the Neopagan movement. In the connection of sacred and earthly pilgrimage, the heroine-guide also becomes the one who is accompanied. I also appreciate the story’s conclusion, which leaves room for the start of a new cycle – a period the heroine enters enriched by the invaluable experience of inner transformation.”

I just finished reading the book with complete amazement. Not only is it brilliantly written, but the mental content it brings has incredibly excited and fulfilled me.
